How to delete Microsoft account: Many companies some not so pleasing ideas when you try to delete the account you create with them, but Microsoft wouldn’t ask you to walk through complicated steps. Cancel your subscriptions
In case you had subscribed to some services using the Microsoft email id then make sure you cancel all the subscriptions. In case you do not do so, you will not be able to use those services post deletion of your account.
Try to set up an automated email message forward
In case you have email accounts in with outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com or msn.com, then you will have to wait for almost 60 days before the final deletion of account takes place and you will not be able to access your emails too. In such cases you can send the messages manually to inform others that your account will be deleted else you can also set an automated message to let others know.
After your Microsoft account gets deleted, all the money you invested in different programs will also get wasted. Make sure before planning to delete your account you spend the money remaining. The money that you may lose is like your Skype credit etc.
Take care of your data
When you were using Microsoft account, you may have stored lot of your pictures, documents and other data in OneDrive/emails in your Outlook. Post deletion of your account, you will not be able to access your stored data in case you have not taken back up of the data somewhere else.
If enabled – turn off reset protection:
In case the reset protection is enabled on the devices you are using, make sure you disable it before you delete your account.
Note: In case after deleting your Microsoft account you find out that there is some program not working, then there is still a period of 60 days available for you to get back your Microsoft account before Microsoft deletes it permanently.
Steps to delete your Microsoft account completely
- Head to the Microsoft website page and search for the link Close your account
- Enter your email address linked to your Microsoft account.
- Click – Next.
- Enter your password.
- Click on – Sign in.
- Click – Next.
- Read every checkbox carefully and then click them after you understand the consequences of account deletion.
- Click on – Drop down arrow seen in field – Select a reason
- Click – option.
- Click – Mark account for closure
- Click – Done
